8. Can I make a living as a celebrant?

Yes, you can, but let’s keep it real for a minute. Building a career as a celebrant doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s definitely not a “train today, bookings tomorrow” kind of journey. Like any self-employed role, it takes hard work, persistence, perseverance, and resilience to get started and then even more effort to keep up the momentum.

What our courses do give you is a strong foundation: the skills to create amazing ceremonies, the confidence to market yourself, and the tools to run a business that feels true to you. We’ll also be here to support you long after you’ve graduated, through our members’ community and ongoing development opportunities.

So yes, you absolutely can make a living as a celebrant but it will be through a combination of your training and marketing efforts, your dedication, and your passion for the work. Not to mention, your own local area and local wedding and funeral industries and how this can influence and shape your work.

9. Does your wedding training allow me to legally marry people?

Great question! The short answer is no our training won’t turn you into a registrar or give you legal marrying powers. But here’s the magic: as a celebrant, you get to create deeply personal, unique ceremonies that couples actually want to have. Many couples will do the short legal bit at the registry office, and then come to you for the big, heartfelt celebration that reflects their love story.

Think of it this way, registrars handle the paperwork, celebrants handle the magic.  And honestly, most couples say the celebrant-led is their real wedding. Celebrants have been leading wedding ceremonies in this way for decades in the UK, Europe and beyond.

10. Why train with the Celebrants Collective?

There are lots of reasons but we feel these are our key points.

  • We offer a warm, vibrant training community filled with heart, laughter, and support.
  • We're run by two awesome celebrants (Claire and Natasha) who bring with them nearly 30 years of experience, training you to shine your brightest. They supported by a wonderful team of tutors too, who bring their own wisdom and experiences.
  • We have a progressive, inclusive approach that embraces diversity, modern life, and real-world business wisdom.
