Fantastic In-depth Training
I cannot recommend the Funeral Celebrant training from The Celebrant Collective enough. I really enjoyed the course, learnt a lot about how to be a celebrant as well as how to run my own business. The training is informative and in easy bite sized modules. The reference material is helpful. The tutorials are fantastic, a great opportunity to learn from the tutors and fellow trainees. I feel welcomed into a family of supportive and like minded people and have loved every minute of it!

A complete and thorough grounding - expertly crafted
It is rare to find a course that prepares one for all eventualities. Well this superb course does just that.
The initial, positive thought of becoming a funeral celebrant can leave one wondering "what is my next step?" and “how can I make this idea a reality and make a real difference?”
From the outset the Celebrants Collective course guides one gently and logically through the process of creating a funeral service for all occasions and covers, in the smallest detail, everything one could possibly need to establish one’s business.
From planning, to meeting with relatives and from advice on music and readings to the practicalities of what one should take on the day, I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who has seriously considered being a funeral celebrant but isn't sure how to comprehensively train for it.

The values of the trainers are in line with my own!
One of the big selling points for me to choose this course amongst the myriad courses available was your inclusion messaging. It was very important to me that the values of my trainers were in line with my own. I think the fact that this company is owned and run by a black woman and a white woman is hugely impactful and is also a reason I chose this company. Thank you for making inclusion a central part of the course ,your practice and your business.
Over the course of 4 days…
You'll meet Claire Bradford, our head of training and your fantastic course leader, along with your training buddies who'll join you on this amazing celebrant journey. You'll discover:
The big picture: the role of the funeral celebrant; and our guiding principles
The ceremony journey: from first contact with deceased's relatives to the day of the service and beyond. Learning how to use your skills sensitively and compassionately.
The creation process: putting it all together
On the day: logistics; choreography; presentation skills, working with other funeral industry professionals
The opportunity to discuss and reflect with your trainer and training buddies, too.
Training to become a funeral celebrant is a bit like learning to drive a car—you typically go through initial training only once, and even after getting your license, you might still feel like a newbie.
That's where the Celebrants Collective Funeral Celebrant course shines. Our program is fresh, modern, inclusive, relevant, and comprehensive. Over the four days we spend together, we'll guide you through a thorough and enjoyable learning journey. You'll get hands-on practice with every element of the funeral ceremony and present your work to your peers.
But the support doesn’t end when the course does. With the Celebrants Collective, you’re never alone.
You'll have lifetime access to the online version of the course, so you can continually revisit and refine your skills.
But it gets better still. You are welcome to attend our weekly tutorials forever. That means, weeks, months and years after you complete your funeral celebrancy course with us, you can hop onto a tutorial, and get great guidance on your real-life celebrant concerns.
What’s more, we also give you a year’s membership of the Celebrants Collective HQ, which gives you access to hundreds of hours of advice and inspiration to help you deal with specific situations you’re likely to encounter as you meet more families and deal with the intricacies of real life, plus members-only access to online and live events, monthly coaching calls, and our lively online forum of mutual professional support and friendship.
My road to becoming a Celebrant was not straight and I evaluated a few and was quite disheartened until I found Claire and Natasha! From the first click on the website I loved them. Equally delighted to find out they are even more bubbly and enthusiastic in real life and the face to face (Zoom) tutorials have been the highlight of my week.
The online learning was well paced and the audio track helps to reinforce the lessons and is portable and provided "just in time" learning for new Celebrants and there are some great practical lessons about running a business with tons of resource sheets and recommendations coming from the huge and talented CC collective via Facebook and HQ - these ladies don't just train you and drop you - they are with you for the long haul and the addition of Rosalie has added another dimension. Would not have continued down this road without this group. Highly, highly recommend this "family".

We've attended enough courses to know we don’t want you stuck at a desk all day, enduring monotone lectures with endless PowerPoint slides, dark and terribly lit spaces, and uninspiring sandwiches for lunch! That’s the opposite of the celebrant we want you to become.
Instead, here’s how we structure your learning experience:
Active learning with a variety of tried, tested and successful group, pair work and individual activities.
Access to hours of online learning materials, just like our online students.
We provide ample space and time for you to digest and reflect on what you are learning.
You'll have unlimited access to our beloved twice-weekly tutorials indefinitely, even after completing the in-person course.
There's dedicated time for you to work independently, allowing you to reflect and personalize your learning experience.
An opportunity to leave the course fully certified as a Celebrants Collective funeral celebrant.
Embrace the Celebrants Collective ethos.
Consolidate your learning so you don’t forget.
Keep asking questions and develop even further over the coming months at no extra cost.
I was retired and was looking for something interesting to do. I love weddings and became a wedding officiant in Ontario in 2017 and then decided to extend my services as a funeral celebrant with Celebrants Collective, as I was really attracted to their website. My favourite part of the course was the tutorials. They were very informative and I learned a lot just by listening! Being able to continue with the tutorials even after I finished the course is also a great way to connect if I have questions.
With a strong background in teaching and coaching, and having previously worked as an independent celebrant trainer, Claire now oversees the training at the Celebrants Collective. Her extensive experiences enrich the training environment, where she brings so much celebrant and ceremony knowledge to the table. Claire has personally crafted and refined all wedding and funeral celebrant training courses, influenced by her deep understanding of diverse learning styles. The popularity of these courses speaks volumes about her modern, progressive, and inclusive approach to adult education.
Outside of work, Claire is based in Worthing, West Sussex, with her family. She loves peaceful walks along the promenade or taking in the breathtaking views of the South Downs. And, Claire's life motto is: "why have one cup of tea a day when you can have two, or three, four, five.....?

Motivational, inspirational, incredible!
Claire is an exceptional trainer. She holds space expertly. Her teaching style is fun, laid back, relatable and relaxed yet also direct, motivational, and professional. She doesn't just offer incredible teaching but also actively encourages you to explore what being a celebrant feels like from your own perspective and creates a safe environment for this testing out of ideas to happen with ease.

Modern and inclusive!
I had looked at a number of courses online and reached out to a celebrant friend to see if she had any good tips. She recommended The Celebrants Collective and the 'feel' of the group was a good fit for me. I liked that it is modern and inclusive and I liked the emphasis on building a supportive community from which to draw (and offer) encouragement, guidance, and ideas.
Vim Mukuze
Wedding Celebrant,
Ready to take on the world!
As a former registrar, I've gone away thinking and feeling like I'm ready to take on the world because what I have learned has far surpassed what I could have ever researched on my own. And it's been so fun and engaging the whole way through. I cannot recommend this course enough to anyone wanting to train as a celebrant.
Here are some of the questions other people have asked us.
Our courses launched in a global pandemic, so they had to be online! We’ve had the absolute honour of training hundreds of awesome celebrants over the past 4 years through our hybrid online celebrant course which includes unlimited weekly live tutorials. We know our trainees love our celebrant courses for their flexibility, ongoing support and family feel.
After much deliberation, we decided to offer a face-to-face version with the same in-depth learning, the same integrity, the same ongoing support and the same inclusive training.
You’ll probably know best what is right for you, but here are some thoughts from us!
Our in-person course might be for you if:
You love learning in-person and around other people
You can comfortably take some time out and immerse yourself in the course over four days
You want to have a concentrated few days of learning and come out as a certified celebrant (satisfactory completion of assignments needed)
You would like to learn in a spacious and beautiful setting
You would like the opportunity to socialise with and learn from your fellow trainees and tutors in the evenings (introverts please note – this is not obligatory!)
You can get to West Sussex (there is plenty of parking and good transport links)
(let’s be real here) you have a bit more money to invest in your training
Our online course might be for you if:
You love being connected with other trainees around the globe (and you’re ok with that connection being via Zoom)
You like having flexible training that fits around your life
You want to take the time you need (nb you can get to certification in as little as two weeks, or you can take months or even years depending on what works for you)
You can’t get to West Sussex easily
You can’t take a chunk of time out
It suits your budget better
Both our online and in-person celebrant training courses feature identical high-quality learning materials, foster opportunities for discussion and creativity, and provide a supportive, inclusive, and enjoyable learning environment. The difference lies in the delivery method and the surrounding atmosphere, catering to individual preferences and circumstances rather than one being superior to the other.
If you’re not quite ready to commit, you can sign up to stay informed. We’ll let you know about new dates and other helpful information.
